This is sort of dumb, and yet I wanted to post something, anything in relation to today's date. Of course because of the Ninth Doctor.

I've been buried at work as usual, and this is all that I've got right now: Happy 9 Day!

Lame, lame, lame.

Maybe when I get home I can do something; make an icon set, write a short, or maybe finish up a video. And damn, that reminds me that I didn't repost the video of Wicked Game that I promised someone, yet again, that I would.

Wow. I need to escape back into Doctor Who again. I think I was actually more in touch with myself then than I am now.

Loved seeing Chris up on the big screen again. I wasn't thrilled about his accent, although there was just one instance where I heard his true voice come through, or perhaps I just imagined it. His eyes really stood out in several scenes; I found myself mesmerized at times-- and then something would blow up and totally destroy the moment. I felt uncomfortable towards the end, and only because I had the thought as I watched him in the role..."oh dear, why did he take this role?"

The movie itself... I think I'm getting worn out on action movies. It was fast and fun, but I just wanted to hold down Sienna Miller, who appeared to have spring loaded platform heels on throughout the flick-- boing, boing, boing! You're a villain, not walking the Victoria's Secret runway in a miracle bra! She does deliver a fantastic line at one point, which I can't give away, but snerked at.

Dennis Quaid, like pretty much everyone else, including Chris, could have taken it down a notch, but, hey, it's an "action" movie that's big and loud, and in your face. So over-the-top acting is right on par for this type of film.

Watching this, and having the same vague familiarity with the 'G.I. Joe' franchise as I did with 'Transformers', I felt as though it was much more cartoonish than 'Transformers', which took on a more dire and ominous feel. Needless to say, I liked 'Transformers' better, the squeal too, which had some pretty ridiculous inaccuracies.

I'd give the movie and overall 7.
If you want to see it for the sake of seeing Chris, you won't be disappointed, he gets some good screen time.

The Top 10 Shows That Should Get Spin-offs
By Angel Cohn, TWoP | Friday, July 10, 2009, 4:52 PM

Desmond and Penny from "Lost."
ABC/Mario Perez

Ensemble casts seem to be getting bigger and bigger across television, which means there are inevitably great supporting players who don't get nearly enough screen time. So instead of giving them mere minutes per episode (if they're lucky), we think the networks should just spin off the most deserving folks into their own stand-alone series. If it can work for "Frasier," it can work for, you know, actually good characters.

w00t!!! Number Nine (how appropriate, I must say...)

9. "Heroes"

Let's take some of the forgotten characters and give them their own shows, starting with Claude Rains, a.k.a the Invisible Man, played by Christopher Eccleston. Watching someone who secretly lives among us and likes to cause a bit of mischief would be better than anything "Heroes" itself has offered up lately.

Here's the link: http://tv.yahoo.com/blog/the-top-10-shows-that-should-get-spinoffs--458

Still need to get the pics off of my phone. It's amazing how many pictures I have of food!
New Orleans+Turbulent Flight= No Sleep!

Wow, got back this morning and I'm functioning (almost) on about three and a half hours of sleep.

Got into NO 10 am Sat., the heat just wiped us out and we felt awful all day and night. Sunday was great though; a fantastic food day! Then met up with co-workers and ended up at Pat O'Brian's. Stayed out a bit too late.

Fell into bed about 12:30 am, and then I was back up at 4:00 am to rush off to the Airport for a 6:30 am flight to Dallas. Came straight into work.

Wow, I'm completely insane!

Oh yes, about the flight... Thought I was done for! About twenty minutes into the air there's a little bit of shaking, and then about five minutes later there was a whole lot of shaking! Actually, the plane suddenly lurched and banked so severely I really thought we were going down in the freaking swamp! It was like the pilot was doing stunt flying or something, and whole thing is shuddering.

Once we all changed our underpants, the pilot comes on the PA and says, "Sorry about that, but there's another plane about 10 miles ahead of us, and we're in his wake..."

Nice. Um... maybe you could GET OUT OF HIS WAKE PLEASE!!!!!

Fun. Fun. Fun.

I'm on my way to the Big Easy tomorrow morning.
Visiting my company's trade show, that I am not officially going to, and then I'm off to see cemeteries, drink and eat... not necessarily in that order.

Wish Chris Eccleston was still there filming... although if he were, I would imagine he wouldn't be in a very good mood. A two year film shoot is bit a longish. :)

Once upon a time I posted about how David Tennant reminded me of Eric Bana...

I just saw a preview for a new movie that Bana is in, and it pretty much weirded me out!
The extent of my writing these days

In the last few months the extent of my writing has been technical writing, how-to's and scripting for work. It has zapped me of what I believe is most of my creative juices. Been schlubbing over Twitter quite a lot, but actually not much in the few weeks. RL crap keeping me even from writing 140 characters or less.

Yet, all is not completely lost, or at least I think not. I was actually catching up on some reading last night (ninamusing 's Relict and lillibetm3 's 'Strange Magicks' among others), and I felt a since of something missing. Felt like I needed to get back to writing creatively.

Was just sitting here on the back patio, thinking about 'Try', which I also read a bit of last night, and wondered if I really had it in me to finish it. I have so many notes, so much material, but I don't really feel that I could do it real justice at the moment. Yet, I do feel that it's coming, the desire to really get back into it, and finish it.

Still, I can't stay away from the technical crap, and became distracted with devising a script to extract data from Whofic.com of personal interest. Just can't seem to separate myself from it. I suppose that's a good thing though, I was sort of combining the two-- fiction and technical BS.

I finally got around to watching 'Planet of the Dead'. Yes, finally, I got it the day it aired, and still had not found the opportunity to watch it until yesterday. Liked it much more than 'The Next Doctor'. Think watching this special, and then following it up with my daughter's request to watch an episode from Series 1, may have given me a bit of an initial kick too.

In all my technical wanderings, I've gotten so far away from LJ that I've freakin' forgotten most of the HTML to do cuts and LJ user links. Argh. But with some key banging and squinting, I've figured it out again. Looks like I'm back on the bicycle... just need to keep my balance.
